Leave No Trace - A short video

A short film to highlight the leave no trace message, made with my two boys aged 10 and 9, was a fun way to get the message across without banging on about it.

I spend a fair bit of time enjoying the outdoors, whether it’s hiking my local hills or multi-day wild camping trips in the mountains of Snowdonia, it’s always something to look forward to. It’s not often I share the leave no trace message, I don’t think I ever have. So here’s my attempt. Our attempt. It’s about a bloke who goes wild camping in the woods and forgets to leave no trace. I won’t spoil it, but it was fun to make and hopefully puts it across nicely.

Making the film had us in fits of laughter on a few occasions, it was really great fun. It was topped off right at the very end, where (I’ll try not to spoil it)… during shooting the final scene, with the thing, on the you know what, a local council refuse team pulled up in a van and looked very confused. At that moment I was 25 metres away or so hiding in a hedge to capture the final shot. I jumped out and waved them off, apologising for the, erm, interesting, wild camping scene that they had just stumbled upon. Great fun!
